Key and Id - Concept behind?

Hi Folks,

Could someone please explain why Albums and Images are coming in the API 1.3.0 with both an Id (Integer) and a Key (String) field?
I would expect just a Key to suffice to uniquely identify a particular photo among the entire collection, no?

Why is there also an Id?
How to uniquely identify a certain image or album?
- id alone
- key alone
- id and key together as a pair

Can anyone let me know if it is possibly to build a login directly to client galleries (password protected), just so the clients would have to log in directly through a different web site?

We aren't looking to build things embedded in our site, just make sure the clients have to pass through our site on the way to seeing their gallery.

I decided to clean out my store deleting a TB of images from 2006 to date. This, of course, has left a lot of external linking sites now pointing to 100s of pages which no longer exists producing a 404 error for the user which is a negative for SEO performance. Therefore, I need to redirect (permanent 301 redirect) the deleted page addresses to a functioning address to my store (or at least the most popular pages which are listed in Google Webmasters)

The optimum way to do this would be via .HTACCESS and for good reason .HTACCESS is not available. So, how do I redirect a deleted page via a permanent 301 redirect.

Does anyone know where to get validation rules for UrlName attribute (for creating Folders), as well as NiceName (for creating Albums)? I tried to reverse engineer JavaScript on smugmug website, but it seems like all validation rules are done on the backend and frontend only has 'limited' version of them (which is used to automatically populate 'UrlName' field as you are typing in folder Name).

Hi,

I've been given access to the SmugMug API to build a tool that, in part, uses SmugMug as an image repository. Looking at the documentation, all authentication support seems to be based on OAuth 1, which doesn't really fit with a machine-to-machine system. Is there any way to authenticate and get an access token without using OAuth, or am I on the wrong path here?

Automated way to email a photo or link a day?

I am currently using a Google doc/gmail script to send my wife a photo a day (just random family snaps). In order for the scheduling part to work I need to first create a new email and attach a photo and then let it sit in draft mode until the script sends it.

While it works, it's a bit of a hassle to attached a bunch of photos. Does anyone know if there is a way to do something similar with SM links - a script grabs a URL from a designated gallery and emails the link?
